Garden & Beekeeping Mentoring

Now offering mentoring services for residents of London, Ontario, and people who live within 25 km of southwest London*. Mentoring involves in-person, COVID-19 safe visits; email trouble-shooting; and how-to guides.

*I will consider travelling up to 50 km at additional cost.

Garden Mentoring

Garden mentoring involves helping people create flourishing vegetable, herb, and/or pollinator gardens. It involves: providing education and resources; giving feedback on garden design and plans; giving general gardening tips and advice; and troubleshooting common problems.

Mentoring does not involve designing a plan or installing a garden. Mentoring is for people who want to do the work of gardening but need some expert guidance and instruction

The garden mentoring package includes

  • Three on-site 45-min visits over the growing season to give ideas, instruction, and advice*
  • Email assistance during the growing season
  • A 10-page organic growing guide

Cost: $200

Please note: There are no work trades available for this item. However, I am open to bartering. There are a limited number of services/items I need/want, so please email – rebecca.a.ellis@gmail.com – for more info.

Beekeeping Mentoring

Beekeeping mentoring involves helping new beekeepers nurture thriving honey bee colonies. It involves giving information and resources for getting started; providing general beekeeping tips and advice; providing guidance in mindful and organic beekeeping, and troubleshooting common problems.

Please note: while I may be able to identify and assist with some honey bee pests and pathogens, this does not substitute for the expertise of provincial bee inspectors especially when dealing with American Foul Brood.

Mentoring does not involve on-going hive management. Mentoring is for people who want to do the work of beekeeping but need some expert guidance and instruction.

The beekeeping mentoring package includes:

  • Three 45-min visits over the beekeeping season to give ideas, instruction, and advice (this involves opening up the bee hives)*
  • Email assistance during the beekeeping season
  • A 10-page mindful, organic beekeeping guide

Cost: $200

Please note: There are no work trades available for this item. However, I am open to bartering. There are a limited number of services/items I need/want, so please email – rebecca.a.ellis@gmail.com – for more info.

*Additional visits can be arranged for an hourly rate
